Matching Game: Piano Composers
Flip two cards at a time to find each matching pair of composers. The game counts a mistake when you miss a match on a card you have already seen, so the goal is to remember where every portrait is the first time you see it.
How to remember the cards
Give each position on the board a place in a memory palace. When you flip a card, picture that composer doing something memorable at the matching location. Chopin could be playing a nocturne on your front doorstep, or Liszt could be tossing his hair in the kitchen sink.
It also helps to link each face to something you already know about the composer. Beethoven’s scowl, Bach’s wig, and Rachmaninoff’s huge hands all make strong mnemonic images.
About the portraits
The portraits are public domain images from Wikimedia Commons. Start with a small board and move up to a larger grid once you can clear it with few mistakes.
