Matching Game: Flags and Countries

Loading game...

Flip two cards at a time and match each flag to its country. Every card says whether it is a Flag or a Country, and a pair is always one of each. The game counts a mistake when you miss a match on a card you have already seen.

How to remember the flags

Link something you see on the flag to the name of the country with a mental image. For Japan, you might picture the red circle as a pan full of red jam, seen from above. The stranger the picture, the easier it is to recall. See how to create mnemonic images for more ways to build them.

To remember where each card is, give every position on the board a place in a memory palace, and walk back through the palace when you need to find a partner.

About the flags

The flag images are public domain images from Wikimedia Commons. Many flags look alike, so look at the details: the order of the colors, a star, a coat of arms. Where two countries have the same design, such as Chad and Romania, a caption under the flag names the continent.

Try a bigger board

Every game deals a different set of flags, so play again to meet new ones. Once you can clear a small board with only a few mistakes, move up a size.
