A phonetic number system is one that assigns sounds (not letters) to digits before converting the sounds into mnemonic images.
Some examples of phonetic number systems are:
- Dominic System
- Major System
- Ben System
- Katapayadi System — Katapayadi is a mnemonic system from ancient India that was first mentioned in the 7th Century CE.
