Waypoints Game
Waypoints is a memory journey on a grid. While the preview lasts you learn where the numbered waypoints stand. Then the numbers hide, and you draw one line through every square, calling at the waypoints in order. Each waypoint your line reaches shows its number again, so the road behind you is known and the road ahead lives in your head. It is the method of loci on a board.
Draw one line through every square, calling at the numbered waypoints in order. The numbers hide after a few seconds, so you walk the route from memory.
How to play
- Learn the board. Every waypoint shows its number for a few seconds, or press Start now when you are ready.
- The numbers hide. On Easy and Normal each waypoint stays as a plain stone.
- Start on 1 and draw one line, up, down, left or right, through every square. It never crosses itself.
- Call at the waypoints in order and end on the last one. A waypoint out of turn will not take the line.
- Each waypoint you pass shows its number again. Only the ones ahead are from memory.
- Stuck? A peek brings every number back for two seconds.
Choose a level on the start screen. Easy is a 5 by 5 board with seven waypoints, an eight second preview, stones that stay and three peeks. Normal, the default, is 6 by 6 with nine waypoints, eight seconds, stones and two peeks. Hard is 7 by 7 with nine waypoints, a six second preview, no stones after it and one peek. Drag with a mouse or a finger, tap the square beside the end of the line, or draw with the arrow keys. Backspace steps back, a drag or a tap back along the line undoes steps, Space peeks and Escape pauses.
Scoring
Your time runs from the moment the numbers hide until the line covers every square, peeks included. Each level keeps its own records.
- Your best time.
- How many puzzles you have solved.
- Your longest run of puzzles solved in a row without a peek.
Next puzzle deals a fresh board at once, as many as you like, and every board has exactly one solution. Your records are saved in this browser only.
