Floor Plan Game
Floor Plan is a logic puzzle with a little mental arithmetic in every clue. The floor is a square of cells with clues scattered over it, and you split it into rectangular rooms, one clue in each. A clue never says "6": it says "2ร3" or "9โ3", so you work out each room's area before you can draw it. The Trachtenberg system and the mental abacus are two ways to make sums like these quicker in your head.
Divide the floor into rectangular rooms, one clue in each. Every clue is a small sum to do in your head, and its answer is the room's size.
How to play
- Split the whole floor into rectangular rooms.
- Every room holds exactly one clue. Work the clue out: its answer is the number of cells in the room.
- Drag from one corner to the opposite one. The size shows as you go, such as 2 ร 3. Let go to build the room.
- A room with the wrong area, with no clue or with two shakes and is not kept. Tap a built room, or press UNDO, to take it down.
- Stuck? Tap a clue, then HINT, and its answer shows as a plain number for two seconds. The clock keeps running.
- The clock starts at once and stops when every cell belongs to a room. Next puzzle deals a new floor straight away, as many as you like.
Choose a level on the start screen. Easy is a 5 by 5 floor with sums such as 2+2, and three hints. Normal, the default, is a 6 by 6 floor with products and differences such as 2ร3 and 9โ7, and two hints. Hard is a 7 by 7 floor with two steps, multiplying first, such as 17โ5ร3, or a division such as 18รท3, and one hint. Hard follows the usual order of operations: 17โ5ร3 is 17โ15, which is 2, not 36. Every floor has exactly one solution. On a keyboard, move with the arrow keys, press Space on one corner of a room and Space again on the opposite corner, Backspace to take a room down and H for a hint. Escape pauses.
Scoring
Your score is your time, counted from the moment the floor is dealt. Each level keeps its own records:
- your best time,
- how many floors you have solved, and
- your longest run of floors solved without a hint.
Your records are saved in this browser only.
