Mnemonic Association

It's easier to remember new information if you can relate it to something that you already know. One of the foundations of memory techniques is developing systems to associate unknown data with things that are more easily memorized.

A simple example of a mnemonic association is remembering that the Cyrillic letter "Ч" has a "ch" sound by imagining that it looks like an upside down chair stuck to the ceiling.
