School reform and Memory Club experiences. Recommended bibliography.

Hi. Since some time now I've been interested in designing an ideal school system, as I didn't have a good Primary and Secondary education, and I've been very critical of the way classes are thought at my Law Faculty.
Kannas, in this post http://mt.artofmemory.com/forums/mnemonics-vs-other-skills-1162.html, gave a good outline.

I would like to know your opinions and if you can recommend bibliography about the subject, or tell me about your experiences sharing and teaching memory techniques and other related knowledge to others (peple outside the specific forums). I have found difficult to share mnemotechniques with others outside my family circle and close friends; the same has happened trying to share the learning of languages without teachers (in the traditional style), with methods such as Pimsleur, Assimil, FSI and others. Most of them don't even want to discuss alternatives.

I'm specially interested to know if someone has studied or teaches in Finland, as they seem to have one of the best educational systems in the world, according to PISA.

Some books that I can mention, that I think are representative of different approaches. I haven't read the books; I've got the authors from documentaries and TED talks. Please let me know if you have read some of them and your opinions and critics.

What are your thoughts on "progressive education"? Do you think that is better/worst than traditional education? Why?
