hi im m7 i found out about memory techniques through joshua foer's ted talk and that persuaded me to think about memory techniques so i bought his book Moonwalking with Einstein and that motavated me to think about memory places and then eventually landed me here.

i just started so all i've learn't is the major system and the things that i am finding the hard is making loci in video games and pictures also making words into images that aren't nouns is a slow process for example through, and, if, a, is , but, because. so i was woundering is there a technique to speed that up or does i just take practise to achieve faster placement of images.

Welcome to the site! :)

If you post a few examples of images that you're having difficulty with, we could help brainstorm how to create images. It gets a lot faster with practice.

using something like this as a loci is hard for me because unlike
using a video game or the real world as a loci this is a 2d image

That picture seems a little bit busy for a memory journey. Are there any real-life places that you could use? Maybe your home, school, or store that you know fairly well?

This pattern can work well for some kinds of rooms, shops, and cafes:

Scenes like this can work well, because there are a lot of distinct locations with some space between them:

There is also an example on the how to build a memory palace page.

We don't have a "solved" feature, but if there are requests for it, we might be able to add it. The discussions are usually open-ended, and sometimes they get revived several years later when a new person wants to comment on an older discussion. :)
