Hi guys!

I'm new here, and i just wanted to say hello to you all and tell a little bit about me and my interest in memory. It all started with me being given the book "Moonwalking with Einstein" by Joshua Foer.I read the book, got amazed and started reading a lot about memory techniques. After a while of simple practice, I made a PAO-system for decks of cards and numbers.

I should tell you that swedish people have something called "The Gymnasium examination" (poorly translated), which roughly means that the student's going to undertake a huge project to work with. Mine's about memory techniques, being a student of the behavioural and social sciences.

My primary goal set for my school project is memorizing a deck of cards under 2 minutes. And i really do want to succeed with the 1000 digits in an hour too, and also the 10 decks of cards in an hour. But those are probably just dreams. At least for now :)

I could also tell you that my current record on a deck of cards (without errors) is 4 min. and 31 sec.
I've been practicing for a little more than a month now(like two, three times a week) and I constantly see improvement!

So, I joined mnemotechnics.org because I wanted to be a part of the growing community of mnemonists, and I felt like it would be great to talk to other people who's interest lies in memory! So fellow memorizers, please tell me about your experiences as a beginner, and if you have any tips and tricks, please let me know :)

Kind regards,

Fredrik from Sweden

Welcome!

When you practice decks, 2 or 3 times a week, how many decks do you memorize in each session? There is a thread called "post your card times here" that has hundreds of posts and tons of advice. Feel free to keep posting improvements you make in that thread. Many people would be curious to follow your progress.

Thank you, I feel welcomed indeed!

At the moment, I'm practicing with one deck of cards at a time, but I just picked up a few more decks to practice with quantity. I'm going to check that thread out, thanks! Sounds like the perfect thread for me!

Nice to meet you Fredrik,

There's a member here who made this app:

You might find it cheaper than buying several packs of cards. :)

Another member here made this app, but I haven't tried it yet:

Tried them out, real nice actually, thanks! Though I already purchased 10 decks of cards for 13 dollars haha..
