Math Circles

I'm not sure if this was already posted in the form, but it looks interesting. It was sitting in my tabs.
Young math wizards delight in numbered spells

Originated in Hungary more than a century ago, math circles spread across Eastern Europe and Asia. According to the National Association of Math Circles, many of the great scientists from those parts of the world are direct products of the program.

The U.S. didn’t develop a similar program until 1998, but since then math circles have spread like the decimals of pi across the country, producing markedly higher math proficiency where ever they have gone.

The Santa Cruz Math Circle was founded two years ago by local software engineer Tim Sylvester, who also founded X Academy, a Santa Cruz area non-profit that offers science, technology, engineering, arts and math enrichment activities for kids.

Haven't heard about math circles.
Of course I applaud any math enrichment program.

I wish that I had found something like that when I was a kid.
