#### Is anyone getting errors when trying to post?

Is anyone getting errors when trying to post? Maybe a CAPTCHA or screen that blocks you from posting? If so, please take a screenshot and email it to josh@artofmemory.com and I'll try to fix that. If you can't take a screenshot, then post the "ray ID" and I'll look it up in the system.

Hey Josh!

I have this "captcha thing" all the time. And what's worse is that when it comes back to the website after it, my post is usually gone. What I have been doing is to always copy my posts (during and after writing them) and save them to a text file.

In fact, I was going to ask you this way before: there is not an autosave feature when we write posts, so it was very common to lose posts. Now I keep using text files to save them or I write them altogether in another program first, but I don't like that.

Is there a way for you to add this feature? Just like the one we have in Gmail or similar?

P.S.: It didn't happen this time; it is very common to happen while trying to preview the post, but now it worked fine.

I added that feature and it was working. Then it stopped working, and I fixed it again, but now it isn't working again. I'll try to debug that today.

I think I found the bug. I might have accidentally introduced it while making some changes to speed up the loading of the website. It seems to be working again now. It should auto-save forms, but it's limited to a single browser. If you change browsers during editing, the auto-save text won't be there. (It uses something called localStorage.)

I wouldn't depend on that feature to work 100% of the time, but I hope that it can save people from the occasional lost post.

And thanks a lot for looking into the autosave problem I mentioned. But I must confess that I didn't have the courage to test it -- I am still copying and pasting the post in a text file while writing.

Should this new feature you implemented show that it is saving the text somehow? I mean, Gmail shows a little "saved" beneath the e-mail. Should we be seeing anything of the sort here?

Thanks, I'm looking up that ray ID.

It won't show a "saved" message, since it isn't intended to be something that people should rely on. It's only robust enough to be considered an emergency safety net. I just tested it with this page and it works. I'll see if I can add a better system soon.

There is a good Firefox extension called It's All Text that lets you edit any textarea in your favorite external editor. If you're a Vim user, then you can edit any textarea with Vim by pressing ctrl-i if you have Vimperator or Pentadactyl installed.

I don't use either Firefox or Vim, but I found GhostText, which works with Chrome and Sublime, that is my setup.

I found the event associated with the ray ID, and I'm working on a fix now. If anyone sees the CAPTCHA message, please send me the ray ID so that I can fix it.

Unfortunately, I've had to turn off that auto-save feature, because it is adding new bugs when multiple browser tabs are open. It doesn't save each form content separately, but overwrites the forms in all tabs with the same content.

I will work on fixing it soon. Sorry about that.
