How often do you check your phone? (Did you just check it after reading that sentence? It's okay, we won't judge.) Those little portals to the digital universe are mighty handy, but they're also pretty distracting. A June 2017 study demonstrates just how bad it is: your smartphone takes a cognitive toll just by being in the room with you. It doesn't even need to be powered on to do it.

I'd like to get rid of my smartphone and replace it with a simple flip phone soon.

I now think if you are going to participate in a memory competition, you better leave it home. I didn't know that.

When I must remember to do something 3 to 4 hours down the line, I always use the calendar app for notifications because I know I can forget it. I wish I could find a good and effective way ti go around needing this function from my smart phone.
