Interview on Memory Techniques with Grandmaster of Memory Ed Cooke
I just saw this interview with Ed Cooke posted to Twitter:
Interesting to see that it’s 2-digit system and looks possibly arbitrary and not phonetic?

Experimenting myself with pegs, I believe that phonetic-based pegs are a hindrance. I think this is why the major system is not the way to go. Even though I got pretty good at the major system, I couldn’t stop myself from sounding out the numbers. I have decided (again 🙂 to go with a 2digit person-action (Dominic) system. I know the top competitors use a PAO system, but I think I would ultimately unwieldy in the real world (good for competition situations).
