Hello everyone! My name is Anish and I'm from Pune, India.
I stumbled upon memory techniques only recently, when my pursuit of an improved memory led me to the so-called "military technique for photographic memory" ( http://wondergressive.com/experiment-in-photographic-memory/ )
This article got me really excited about the possibility of attaining a photographic memory. However, it seemed too good to be true and I ended up not trying it (yet).
While googling around, trying to find concrete evidence that the military method actually works, I came across Memory Palaces and other fascinating memory techniques.
I then went on to read Joshua Foer's 'Moonwalking With Einstein' and a couple of Dominic O'brien books to further my knowledge.
I'm only a beginner and the best I've done so far is to memorize 40 items in about 9 mins. I've also successfully memorized a short poem ("Invictus" by W.E. Henley.)
This forum is pretty much the most active and informative forum on memory and I've already found several useful tips here. I will try hard to learn as much as possible from the memory masters here :)
