Mid-brain Activation Technique

Do anyone know about this technique?

"Ten-year-old Gade Parineetha seems to have a special ability. She can identify or read from flash cards when blindfolded, by smell and sense. She has set a world record by doing so with as many as 101 flash cards in a matter of 60 seconds and entered the Limca Book of World Records, Unique World Records, Wonder Book of Records and four more book of records..."

Yes I know. From wiki on Midbrain Activation:

Midbrain activation is a pseudoscience which claims to equip children to sense visual properties without actually seeing them, though science educators and rationalists go against it.

Function of the Mid-brain.
Scientifically, it has been accepted that the midbrain is associated with vision, hearing, motor control, sleep/wake, arousal (alertness), and temperature regulation. The midbrain helps to relay information for vision and hearing. However there is no scientific proof that the actual purpose of the Mid brain can be in any way "activated"

So, it's not a technique, but a hoax and gimmick for gullible audiences in TV shows

In India here these guys are teaching it in boot camp and I know it's fake but I can't stop this bullshit from spreading. I can't debunk that. It's like a epidemic. They are also teaching mnemonics too. They are mixing then up. So, people believe them. I just say only one that, if this really is possible then the real blind or low sighted people can be trained to see things without seeing them. So why should we make brile books for them or audio books and stuff. But it's like magic and people are drawn to it.

Reminds me of things like mental photography, photoreading, and Zox Pro.
