Memory League Random Images Strategies

large_images1.png
I had everything correct, but changed all 4 of the incorrect answers at the last minute. What do other people do when there are multiple pictures of sheep in the last few images? Brute force, or do you use a trick?

Maybe create the mnemonic links with the part of the picture that doesn't have sheep in it? The building reminds me a little of Hofburg Palace in Vienna for some reason, so I would create a link to that part of the picture. It's difficult to create the mnemonic images at speed though. :)

As Josh said it is difficult to create mnemonic images at speed. I have never done speed images before the memory league site launched. A strategy I have developed is splitting the images in half. I memorize two images per locci. I take a unique feature on the left side of a picture and have it interacting with a feature on the right side of the picture. For example, I would have the jellyfish stinging the head of the one sheep. For the last picture I would image the yellow image sitting/interacting with the corner of the building on the left side of the picture.

I have never done images before so I would be interested in hearing other strategies for this event.

That's an interesting idea to use the halves of the pictures. I started with a linking method, but then switched to memory journeys with two images per location. I find something that catches my eye in one image and then link it to the other image in the pair.

I love this discipline! It is a good way to train visual memory. Yesterday I reached level 10 without any loci, just by visually glueing the images together. Yet this method is not fast enough for matches since I have to repeat the whole thing several times.

If you're getting 100% correct, give it a try with random players, and I think that you will win many of them. :)

Ah, I see, score is more important than time. Thanks. In most cases I miss some images or recall time runs out before I finished. Nonetheless the method seems to work, my personal record is now 30 in 56,09s.

Images is my favourtie event.
My pb is 9.98 seconds
At that speed it is very hard to study the picture well but this is how I try to deal with things like multiple sheep :)
The first sheep will just be a sheep and will fly past.
When you see a second one, you need to be aware you have had a sheep already so you can take an extra moment on the second sheep to take in the background or the direction the sheep is facing or anything else that is hopefully unique to the picture.
So when you recall, you won't know which sheep is first but you will know which one is second.

Noticing the direction an animal is facing is really useful at all times.
Either it is facing the correct way that matches your journey or it is facing the wrong way, this kind of detail you can grab instantly and will change your story.

Although with unseen, new images it is only 11.48 and in competition it is only 14.90

How much do you practice and how long did it take to reach those scores?

Probably 15-20 attempts a week for a year

Amazing... how many images do you put per location? And how many memory journeys do you have on hand for that event?

2 per location, 13 locations, 4 grabbed in working memory at the end.
I don't have anywhere near enough journeys but Images don't really leave ghosts so I can practice it a lot if I am in the mood.

Thanks, I'm going to try that trick with the last four images.
