Josh, is there anyway I can get access to the previous software that was available? I haven't been around this forum for a solid 2 years, but, your email, reaching out for help, reached me well. It seems like there was already software in place, but when I click on the link for it, it directs me to the Kickstarter page, which I'm already an $80 donor, whatever class that puts me in.

Here's my fear: If this software isn't available until October, I fear it will be irrelevant by the time it is, for my needs. Additionally, it's a really bad time to be releasing software like this. You should be centered around school and college schedules. Regardless, my backing stands. I just don't want to get so far ahead that I get no use out of what is available in October. That's the middle of the Fall semester.

With that said, congratulations! For a very fair price, you are offering a very valuable resource.

Well, I spell out the obvious idea to pull the photos straight from the internet to make the process faster (the introduction video only shows "from library", "upload" and "paste from clipboard" options). I'm sure the copyright fear has crossed your mind, but YouTube just removes the videos that are complained about; and you could do the same: if someone complains about his photo (either made into location or image), you either warn the user to remove the photo from the memory journey or make the memory journey private; or deshare it yourself. If it is private, no copyright issues can arise.

Counterargument: someone finds other methods to share his copyright infringed memory journeys
Solution: state in user agreement that you're not responsible of that.
If you think about it, the app itself violates no more copyright laws than PhotoShop (if the "desharing" option is implemented)

Looks promising.

Which link are you clicking?

We could have waited longer, but we wanted to get it live sooner, so we launched the campaign as soon as we could. :)

I would love to launch a beta before October, but we tried to make a realistic prediction. Will you still be in school in the winter semester? The software will have practical uses, even outside of schoolwork too...

Thanks... there is more to the software than shown in the Kickstarter campaign, and I think that you'll like it. We'll consider all feature requests. You can send suggestions to me ([email protected]) any time. :)

You have a valid point, Josh. I suppose the best time to release something is "when it's ready". Yeah, I'll be in school then, but I must admit I should probably step out of the "this is for school" zone and into "this is for life" zone. I feel a little guilty, actually, for centering it around school. It's been a long while, but that feeling you get when you know you made a mistake and let someone down, it feels exactly like that. This may come across as a little deep for the topic, but that person is me! Here I am, talking about school, totally oblivious to the higher purpose. Well, thanks for triggering that realization!

As for the link, it's on the the homepage at www.artofmemory.com - there's a button that says "Get our memory software", which, could be worded better, which leads to the Kickstarter page. Below that on the right there's a bit of info that says Brain Training Software, and under that, "Learn More", which shows this: We're building a new kind of brain training software. Get it on Kickstarter until the first week of April!

"New kind", to me, implies that there was one before it, but I guess it could also refer to other unaffiliated software that's out there. That's why I was confused. No offense meant at all, but it is a little misleading.

Again, I can't stress enough how happy I am to be able to support this endeavor, and I'm sure the software will be an asset to everyone, from beginner to grand master, considering that's who is behind the creation of it to begin with.

Sorry if the wording isn't clear. "New kind" just means that we're building something that has never existed yet. :)

(I'll update the descriptions soon, since the Kickstarter campaign ends tomorrow.)

Very glad to see there be support. I'm sure it doesn't cover many weeks of mortgage payments and groceries but hopefully enough to get a nice core in place that can be built on over time for with smaller sprints. If it can get to the point of a reasonable subscriber base then hopefully the baby will live. You may yet have to leverage the Apple and Android app side of things to get adequate numbers. It's never really clear how many lurkers there beyond the small addicted core.

For those of us who contributed enough to get an XMT membership, is there any way we could start using the XMT website before october?

By the way, if anyone missed the Kickstarter, the software is still available to preorder at a discount for a limited time.

Is it possible to still pay $80.00 for the Sherlock package? I'd love to have beta access.

This is much welcomed initiative, Josh. I am looking forward to testing it out.

I've got a suggestion for the promotion phase. The book Memo became a bestseller in Norway after a popular science show on TV, where he had ordinary people – I think a hairdresser was among them – learn all the capitals and countries in the world in no-time. I was thinking perhaps some of the same could be done with this software. Getting in touch with a TV team, drilling a group of children and telling a story of how these techniques were in fact used in Ancient times, but that they've been forgotten but recently improved, and now – for the very first time – got software specifically written for this purpose.

And perhaps this type of functionality is already planned, but if not, something I'd really like to begin able to head-to-head with friends. I've got a friend who I've got curious about memory techniques, and nothing sparks interest like competition.

Yes, it will have that functionality. You can see a list of the initial features here: artofmemory.com/preorder.

Is it possible to get beta access? Would that included pledging an additional amount?

Hello all,

I want to give the software a try.

So when I use a pre-order it is only one time I pay for the Subscription?
And how about data savety?
I mean:
When I save everything online, how is my data secured against stealing / or loss against hardware failure on your servers?

Thanks for answer.

At the moment you can preorder a two year subscription for the price of one.

We take all possible measures to ensure data security and integrity. At the moment, we keep regular backups of the site's data in 3-4 physically separate locations at all times. If my computer is destroyed at the same time that the live server fails, there will still be backups of the data. :)

It's always possible for things to go wrong with computers, but we take privacy and security seriously and do our best to make sure that there are no problems.

Thanks Josh for that answer.

I have bought the two year pre-order.

But I have questions:
1) Beta Access is not possible with that?
2) how can I use XMT in the software?
2.1) with extra cost?
2.2) train level minimum? etc..

Thanks for answer

I would also love a mental calculator! Maybe doing some multiplications and testing the recall of the answers?

We will have some mental calculation features on the site. They will probably come after the initial release of the software though. :)

If you were a Kickstarter backer with beta access or an XMT user, you should now have access to the beta launch of Memory League. On this new platform, you can train in five memory disciplines and compete in real-time with other users!

More news and software updates coming soon!

Josh- I have been using the Memory League site for the past day or so and I think it is awesome! I really enjoy the head to head competition feature.

Question about the site - It looks like a high score of mine was inputted to the memory league from the XMT website. Can you briefly describe how the XMT site and memory league are linked together Will attempts on the XMT site be used to calculate scores on the new Memory League? Thanks
